Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Paycheck Overpayment

I had NO idea that I was overpayed by my employer. As someone with an unblemished Credit record, I have now recieved a collections notice from collector stating that I was overpayed WITHOUT any kind of notice from my employer. Company is requesting payment immediately. I am not able to contact payroll dept to see if this is true. What procedure do I follow. Thank you.

Re: Paycheck Overpayment

Per FDCPA demand proof from the collection agency that you owe the debt. You may also have some legal and equitable arguments to defeat the demand for repayment. Do some research on estoppel, laches, and detrimental reliance. If you need additional help I or another attorney that post here would be happy to help you for a fee.
