Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
not paying credit cards
I have unsecured debt with several credit cards. We lost a monthly income and I cannot pay them. The phone calls have already started. What can happen to us if we don't pay them? In PA, can they garnish wages, freeze checking accounts (i have no electronic payments, ever) Please help.

Re: not paying credit cards
In PA, they cannot garnish wages, but they can get a judgment against you, freeze accounts, sell belongings, etc.
Are you getting calls from credit card companies or collection agencies? Make a list of the time and date of all calls, and write down who you talked to and what they said. If they are collection agencies, if they violate the law--become abusive, make threats, call you too early or too late in the day, etc., you may have an action against them.
If you wish to discuss this further, please don't hesitate to contact me via email. Depending on your situation, who you're dealing with, and the behavior of the collectors, you may have several options.
