premarital debt

i am getting remarried in the near future. The house we live in was purchaced with my previous divorce money and is soley in my name. am i responsible for any of my new husbands debt that was pre marriage, he is also claiming bankrupsy, can any of his creditors or lawyer take anything from me once we are married. He has aquired alot of debt from lengthy divorce which his x wife was not cooroperative. We have waited 3 years to get married. now do we marry or not.

You asked about pre-marital debt.

You need to speak with a lawyer representing just you about how to protect your assets in a relationship with this man. There's nothing wrong with bankruptcy, but it needs to be done and complete with no loose ends.

You should be able to retain a lawyer to deal with these questions for less than a few hours work, if that.
