Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

I have a question.

I've been working with a collection agency for awhile now and was paying $50 a month. Now I'm being asked for more money at a time and I can't afford anymore money. Can they accept a payment plan and then ask for more money. They also what my bills and how much I get from SSI. Why do they need that information? Must I give it to them. I've paid off $1145 already and I can get them to understand I can't send them more money. The keep calling and I tell them I'm not home. Please someone help me. My father says they won't sue, but I think they will. I'm currently paying $55 a month and now they want $100. How can I get them to stick to a number and let me pay that. Can they ganish my SSI? Can they get into my bank records?? They are collecting for a school and if they just let me pay it, it shoulld be paid in one year. What are my rights?

Re: I have a question.

I suggest that you call the collection agency and speak with a manager. They will tell you that there is none around but ask them to leave a message or stay on hold until you speak with one. Then give the manager your story and have them send you something in writing.

It is doubtful that they can garnish your SSI or get into your bank account. If you need more help me or another attorney would be happy to help you, for a fee, of course.
