Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Questional Medical bills and collections
I had a tooth pulled on 4/30/04, had problems getting numb, I was injected 2x with Lidocaine and 4x with Septacaine. My blood pressure dropped bad and I passed out 2x. They called an ambulance and I went to the hospital. The office refused to pay the bills for me and now I have them. 1 questions is, should the office be responsible for this happening at their facility? Can I find out if they gave me too many meds, what can I do about the situation? 2 lawyers told me it would not pay to file a malpractice suit because I am not damaged. I consider filing a complaint with Consumer Protection or Attorney Generals Office? As far as the 3 bills, they all refused the amounts that I could send to them and demanded $50 to 75 a month which I can't afford. 1 collection agency has been accepting what I send with no problem, but the other keeps sending my checks back to me, with a paper saying they wont except anything less than ''?''. I got a call from the ambulance co. and the guy was very rude and told me not to be surprised if I didn't get an ambulance if I needed one. It finally went to collections and now they call me every day. Whats the limitations for Med bills, is a letter considered contact to reinstate and can payments be refused?

Re: Questional Medical bills and collections
You have many many questions there.
The lawyers are right as it relates to a malpractice suit. However, did you not have medical insurance to pay for these bills?
The collection agencies should not be sending your checks back to you, as they probably continue to charge you interest on unpaid balance.
Is the ambulance company public or private?
What about the calls? What do the collection people say to you when they call?
