Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Right of Set Off and Loan

I have a balance on a car loan. The bank bought the bank I currently bank with and used a right of set off to take $2500 out of my joint account with my wife, whose name was not on the loan. Is this legal?

Your wife may have a cause of action. Generally banks do have the right of set-off, but your wife who was not a party to the loan had an interest in the account. I offer free consultations.
