Son married a girl with much debt accumulated befor the marriage, who is responsible for the debts?

She is, not your son. Your son would only be liable if: (1) he was a co-applicant on an account; (2) this was a credit card and he actually used the card; or (3) he helped his now wife and co-signed, like for a car.
Other than those possibilities, he is not liable for his wife's debts prior to marriage just because he married her.
