Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Statute of Limitations for my ex

I recieved a call from a credit agency that was trying to collect on a debt that my ex put on my credit card. The call came to my house while he was packing his things and he told them that I could pay $50/Mo. I did not acknowledge this debt..he did! It was a credit card from 1999. Can I write the agency and tell them that it wasn't me that they talked to. I own property and don't want to lose it. And I cannot pay this debt at this time with medical expenses. What should I do. Thank you.

The statute of limitations for debts of this sort is 4 years. Write a letter disputing the vailidity of the debt. If they attempt to collect you can defnd and counter claim.
