Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

How do I stop collection agency calls after debt has been discharged

Hello & thanx for your help.

A credit card debt has been discharged by the credit company several years ago, a law office/collection agency has been trying to collect, they call at work since I no longer have a home number, How do I stop this??

(According to my credit report there are no outstanding debts to any credit card company, a phone call to sears/discover, the co. that collectors keep calling for, has confirmed that the debt has been written off.

Any help is appreciated..

First, NEVER acknowledge with them that it's your debt, it will start the statute of limitations over again.

Second, tell them that you cannot be contacted at work. Ask for their address and send them a letter to the same effect. Send it certified and keep a copy of the letter.

Keep a log of the days and times they call.

If they continue to call after that, then you may have a suit to file against them. Keep me in mind if it gets to that point...send me an email if you wish to discuss further.
