Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
Being sued in civil court
I have a credit card that I owed $800. then someone stole checks for that card and took them to a check cashing placed and cashed them. The card company called me and handled it in their fraud department. They closed down that card acount and were supposed to send me new account. However I never received it and becuase the other acount was shut down i could not make online payments i tried to resolve it many times with no luck well now i received a notice that I am being sued for the original balance and all of the interest over the last 2 years since this all started. Was is the worst thing that can happen to me in this case. Can I go to jail? can they garnish my wages at work? I have tried to resolve it but no one seems to want to listen what do i do?

Re: Being sued in civil court
You need to defend against the case in court. It is best to get an attorney but if the amount they are seeking is small and it is in a District Magistrate court, you should at least follow the instruction that you receive and call and say that you intend to defend.
