suing over dress?

A friend of mine was supposed to be in my wedding. she bought the dress then we had a falling out and she said she couldnt be in it anymore. Now she said i owe her $160 for the dress she bought. I told her I owe her nothing and she said shes going to sue me for it. Can she do that?

Re: suing over dress?

You asked about being sued for a bridesmaid's dress.

Friendships are a fragile thing. They really need to be protected. Unless the bridesmaid slept with your fiance on purpose, or something similarly egregious, then offer to pay for the dress but tell her that you'd rather she was in the wedding and that whatever the fight was about is forgotten.

Yes, she can sue for the cost of the dress. As to whether she wins or not is up in the air. But look at it this way, there is no way for either party to win if this matter proceeds.
