Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Unable to resolve an old ''frivolous bill''

I have just been discharged from chapter 7 BK no asset case. I found a bill on my credit report for a cell phone with a report date of 2004.I was employed briefly by AT&T Wireless in 1998, who gave employees a cell phone as a work perk/training tool. No contracts or applications completed. Upon resignation, I returned the phone. I have never been billed for this item nor should I be. I have tried to track down the original creditor through various 800#'s because the facility in Pgh is no longer there. The AT&T wireless in Atlanta verified there is a bill for $264 but no other details, cell #, dates, contract info, etc.. nothing. I have disputed the item on my credit repot but they keep saying it was verified. No one can verify the charge and the so called bill is from 1998. What can I do?

A strongly worded letter threatening a defamation suit if they can not document the bill should do the trick. I offer free consultations.
