Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania
How does it work?
My question is..How does being ''served a court summons or being sued'' happen. I ask because I have this man come to my door every night around 9:30-10pm with a envelope in his hand ringing my door bell and pounding on my door. I don't know him so I just don't answer it. But I got to thinking that maybe I was being sued -Can they come that late at night? And if I never answer-what happens next?
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help.

Service of original process must occur within 30 days after complaint filed. I do not know what type of service is being served upon you. Sounds like a constable serving a civil smail claims complaint. Suggest you seek the advice of a lawyer.

what is the man wearing? if you were being sued in the court of common pleas, he would have a deputy sheriff uniform on. if it is regular clothing, it could be any type of lawsuit or subpoena, or something else. service can be attempted at night if you are not home in the daytime, so that could be it. if it is a lawsuit, they will next try to serve you through the mail. Obviously, this could just be someone else not related to the legal system, so be careful.
