Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

I was given a 4 year sentence in the pennsylvania ARD program. I was told by my attorney that as long as I consented to the extended sentence they were allowed to exceed the 2 year maximum( otherwise I was not going to be offered ARD), however from everything I see online the sentence is not to exceed 2 years for any reason.

Was I given poor advice???
