Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

My 17 y.o. Son was arrested for shoplifting $40 shoes in Phila. It's a first offense. This happened Phila county. he has a court date on 9/14. What can he expect to take place?

First off, he should have an attorney with him when he goes to court. As far as what he can expect, he will probably be offered a program for first time offenders where the charges will be dropped after he pays a fine and does some community service. Once the charges are dropped then he can file for expungement so that his fingerprints, mug shot and rap sheet are destroyed.
