Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

accused nurse

About 2 weeks ago when I went into work, I was called into a meeting where I was told that I was being fired. Their reason was that I had signed for a narcotic med when it came from pharmacy a month prior and had reordered it the previous day. They asked where the first med went and why did I reorder it. I reordered because there was none available for patient. Where it went? I assumed it was given. In that month I had called off work a couple of days d/t family issues and also was suspended for 4 days for call off. I had documented new order on pt's medical record and in communication book for all nurses to see. If med was not there, I believe that it would have been noticed by the next shift or at the latest, the next day. Not a month later. Also, I was not the only person who had access to the meds, even that night. I was not allowed to take a drug test because supervisor stated that in the past my doctor had prescribed meds for me. Police spoke to me and I told them whatever I could. They requested a polygraph. What should I do? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Re: accused nurse

You need to speak with a lawyer. By speaking to the police you could make it difficult to testify at trial because if you get one small detail wrong now at trial the prosecution will make it look like a coverup. You can cooperate with the police in their investigation by having the questions go to the lawyer and the lawyer getting the answer from you. Then if their is a minor discrepency it can be attributed to the communication. I offer free consultations.
