Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

a while ago I loaned a friend money. he got sent to jail on a DUI so in order to pay me back he signed his debit card out to me from the jail property. there is a record of this. well a few days ago I got a phone call from an officer saying my friend filed a complaint and that I needed to come talk to him. he set the date for today at 2:30. I can not get a hold of my lawyer to ask him if I should go talk to him or not. I believe this is a civil matter and that the officer has no grounds to charge me criminally but I am not sure. I am afraid if I go talk to him he will arrest me on the spot. he called me this morning to ask if I was still coming to talk and he told me it was my right not to talk to him but if I did not come and give him my side of the story that he would file a charge against me and we would go from there. is this a ploy for him to get me to come in and try to get information or can he really charge me for this? I begin my second semester of college in a couple weeks and I can not go to jail! should I go talk to him or is he just bluffing?

Call your lawyer'soffice and if there is a secretary--tell her it is an emergency.....she'll find him.

You may be right about the police officer's ploy. Unfortunately, sometimes, they feel they have to resort to that to prevent someone running ....but I can;t say it is universal...Get your lawyer He could probabloy call the officer and arrange to bring you involuntarily at a mnore agreeable time...

Good luck
