Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
arraignment status
I have a friend that got arrested for possesion of a narcotic while on state parole. He has an Arraignment Status scheduled soon. Can you explain exactly what happens at that, and is there any possibility that it could be dismissed that day?

Re: arraignment status
I agree with Mr. Cevallos. What happens at the arraignment is that the charges are read, the possible sentences are explained and bail is set. Since he was on parole, he will possibly be subject to re-sentencing on the initial case as well as a parole violation. Depending on the initial charges, the type and amount of narcotic, and his parole officer he could be looking at some serious time. If he can afford an attorney he should retain one as soon as possible.

No chance it will be dismissed that day. He should retain private counsel as soon as possible.
