attempted ins. fraud
im being charged with attempted ins. fraud i altered a fuel oil reciept & a atv that i thought was stolen my brother in law had picked up without me knowing i havent recieved any money what am i facing ?i have already turned myself in because of a warrant & was released on ror. the amount they have is just over 10,000 but the atv is 3 1/2 years old going price is about 3 to 4 thousand they have it as just over 8000 but that is new price the lawyer i have is hard to get ahold of & says he strongly believes im going to get a 1000 fine & probation does that sound right? i live in sc the issue is at a pa resd.

Since you have an attorney he is in the best position to advise you. Since this is an "attempt" and restitution isn't involved, the value of the item doesn't really matter that much. If you do not believe that you are guilty of the offense but want to enter a plea to avoid costs and trial you may want to consider a "no contest" plea.
