Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Attorney Says She Can't Get Involved.

My nephew is 17, when he was 15 he shot two kids and they charged him as an adult. He later was permitted to be on house arrest and attend school and work. However, he got scared and went on the run. Shortly, after that, my sister received a letter in the mail saying he was now being charged as a juvienile.

8 months later he was caught. The public defender told her in so many words that '' Mothers and girlfriends tend to get too involved.'' Doesn't my sister have every right to be involved and know whats going on, being that my nephew is a minor?

It sounds to me as if he was "de-certified" and then charged as a juvenile, probably as the result of a Petition filed by the Public Defender. I think there may be a communications problem between your sister and the Public Defender. Ordinarily an attorney for a juvenile wants the parents involved in the case.
