Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Car accident witness

I have some fines that I have not been able to pay so I have a bench warrant out for my arrest. My grandfather got in a car accident, and I was a witness. If I testify in court, will they run my name and will I be put in jail? Or, as a witness will they not check that sort of stuff?

Re: Car accident witness

Depends. If let's say the car accident case ends up in DJ Court and its the DJ you owe the fines they just might remember you.

If not then the authorities might not check but the other party in the car suit might. They could easily turn you in and make you unavailable to be a witness.

A good thing to do is get those fines paid off. Otherwise at anytime they can and will arrest you and throw you in jail.

Re: Car accident witness

honestly, i check every civilian witness in every case i have to see if they have a warrant. if you have a warrant, you should turn yourself in ahead of when you have to testify and get on a payment plan.

Re: Car accident witness

It depends upon where you testify. It should not be a problem. Does your grandfather have an attorney to represent him yet?
