Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Car Private Property

I go to a private college in PA. It is a dry campus. A security guard found alcohol in my vehicle. I got in trouble for possesion of alcohol on campus. My question is since the alcohol was in my private vehicle and never left the vehicle or entered any dorm can they get me in trouble for possesion? Is my car my personal property on campus?

What gave the security guard the right to search your vehicle?

I'm not sure of the question of rights here. The private college has property rights also.
