Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
I cashed a 900. check from company customer, check made to me, for work company is doing that I facilitated; company owes me commission for the work, plus more. Have I a defense for a theft by deception charge insofar as they owe me money?
1 Answer from Attorneys
Probably, yes -- especially since the check was made out to you personally. It sounds like you went about getting paid the wrong way, but it's not completely illogical how you proceeded.
Regardless, theft charges are serious and not something to mess around with. I would strongly suggest that you consult with (and hire!) an attorney to keep you out of hot water here. If you'd like to discuss your case in more detail, feel free to contact me offline. Best of luck to you.
