I am being charged with a misdemeanor in retail offense. This is my first offense ever and I am wanting to know what the chances are of this charge being lowered to a summary offense.

If this is your first retail theft, the grading depends on the value of the merchandise that is alleged to have been taken. If it's under $150, it should be a summary. If it's over two thousand or involves a firearm or motor vehicle, it's a felony of the third degree. If it's between $150-$2000, it should be a misdemeanor of the first degree.
