Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

can these charges be dropped?

I'm being charged with two counts of terroristic threats, one count of simple assault, and one count of aggravated assualt. My father is the plaintif but he wants to drop the charges.would it be better for him not to show up for the preliminary hearing in hopes that it gets thrown out or should he show up and request that the charges be dropped? This was a matter that involved a bb gun that got out of hand,my father though the police would take the bb gun and nothing more, but he was wrong.if he can't drop the charges will i go to jail, this is my first offence as an adult.

Re: can these charges be dropped?

Aggravated assault is a felony that if you were convicted would probably mean jail time. These are serious charges. They probably can be dropped but you need to speak to a lawyer. You may have made statements that are admissible against you ("Yeah I pointed the bb gun at him") that would be enough to convict you without your father;s presence. Only a lawyer can help you figure out whether the failure to produce your father as a witness would be fatal to the prosecution. I offer free consultations.
