Check Forged?

I received a check for $50 that was signed and written out to me. Needing money, and thinking that if the check bounced it would fall back on me to pay it back i changed the amount to $150. The person found out and instead of my account being overdrawn it was his. What can I do? And charges do i face?

Re: Check Forged?

You should pay him back immediately, including his bank charges, even if you have to borrow the money from family and hope that he doesn't go to the local Magisterial District Judge or the police. If he does press charges you will need to get an attorney unless you qualify for a public defender.

Serious charges! How did you possibly think this would not get caught? And how did you possibly think it would be something that you could pay? You face potential federal and/or state charges.
