Re: check forgery

The maximum penalty for forgery as a felony of the third degree is three and a half to seven years in custody. However, sentencing in PA depends in part on the person's prior record. In my experience people with no prior record on forgeries get probation. Every county in PA is different. Also, most people aren't charged with just forgery, there are usually like three to six charges that accompany forgery on the bills of information. Further, a forgery case between a legally married couple is kind of tough for the DA to make out at trial, so often lesser charges are offered for a deal.

Good Luck
