Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Child Porn/Harrassement

My friend (18 years old) and his ex-girlfriend(16 years old) have been arguing for the last two months since they broke up and this is really starting to take a toll on him. He says he is always in a state of depression because this is not how he wanted things to turn out because he cares about her, but he really needs this to stop. He is going to send a letter to her parents asking for help, but was also going to include some naked photographs of her that she sent him via a cell phone camera phone while they were going out. He still has them on his phone and has not shown anyone these pictures but wants her parents to understand that their daughter is not a great person like they think she is and that he is not as bad of a person that they think he is. Can he get in trouble for sending these pictures to her parents or just for having possesion of them even though she sent them to him via cell phone?

Re: Child Porn/Harrassement

Tell your "friend" to stop being an idiot. Unless he wants to face significant criminal, both federal and state charges have him immediately delete the pictures, change his cell phone number AND NEVER EVER CONTACT THIS GIRL AGAIN. If need be hire an attorney immediately to discuss what he needs to do to protect himself.

Under NO circumstances should he contact the girl's parents...do you really believe they would ever take the side of a non-family member, wake up and quit being delusional!

As crazy as it sounds, your friend can absolutely get in trouble...very serious trouble. The mere possession of those pictures is a criminal act, and the transmission of those pictures is a more serious criminal act. The chances of prosecution are extremely slim, but my advice is to delete the pictures immediately.
