I was arrested and kept asking for my 1 phone call and the police kept saying later. I never did get my phone call is that a violation of my civil rights? What happens now?

I can't find any statute or case law on the subject but it seems to me that it may be a violation of your right to counsel and could possibly result in suppression of any statements made before you had the opportunity to speak to an attorney if you requested one.
