Convicted Felon Carrying a Firearm
Hi,
I'd like to know if a convicted released from jail can carry a firearm being that of a muzzle loader in Pennsylvania for the purpose of deer hunting.
Thanks and have a Happy New year.

Re: Convicted Felon Carrying a Firearm
The Crimes Code (18 P.S. 6105) prevents most convicted felons from possessing any kind of firearm. There are certain felonies (such as a first offense of auto theft) that do not disqualify someone from possessing a muzzle loader, assuming the barrel length is at least 16 inches and an overall length of 26 inches. Read section 6105 to determine if the felony is one of the predicate offenses.
