Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

I was convicted of a felony, namely possession of a controlled substance in 2002 and since I made a plea bargain, I was sentenced with 5 years probabtion and was not given any prison time at all. The offense occurred in Manhattan, NY. I am a resident of Philadelphia PA. Since the conviction, I have completed my probation, have kept a steady job and have stayed clear of the law, I recently tried to obtain a state license to sell life insurance for the purposes of assisting my wife in her business endeavor and was denied that opportunity. I am writing to you because I heard Judge Mathis was once a convicted felon who now, somehow, has gone on to be a successful judge and I was wondering how he was able to do that. Is it possible to get my record cleared so that I can be afforded the same second chance at life that he was? What steps do I need to take? Who should I call? PLEASE HELP! I would really like to join my wife so that we can build a business and our dreams together and I need a life insurance license to do it.
