Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Is what the cop did legal?
My friend was setup by the cop. The officer was online and pretended to be a drug user. He told my friend that he wanted drugs, my friend agreed and gave him his vehicle description. When my friend drove to the parking lot the cop pulled him over and found the drugs. Is what the police officer did legal? He set him up.

Re: Is what the cop did legal?
The simple answer is yes. The more complicated issue is whether or not your friend had a predisposition to selling drugs or whether the cop made the sale of drugs to him(the cop) so attactive (to your friend) i.e. your friend would gain a tremendous amount of money, or something like this, so as to cause your friend to be willing to sell the drugs to the cop, even though your friend was not predisposed to selling drugs.
It seems that your friend was a little too eager to commit an unlawful act. However, there may be more to the relationship than you have expressed in this note.
