Re: Criminal Justice & Fugitives
a criminal accused becomes a fugitive when he avoids the law by absenting himself from a required court date. the judge will issue a Bench Warrant that is widely communicated. police officers check this information during routine patrolling, for instance. different states hae compacts or agreements to share such info such that a person wanted in new jersey can be picked up and detained by pennsylvania police. then the accused must face any new charges in state 2 and prepare to fight or consent to extradition to state 1. it is best to hire an attorney to negotiate surrender. lawyers colloquially call this, "bringing the spy in from the cold."
