Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

is there a difference of ANY kind (no matter how slight) between "being convicted" of a crime and "pleading guilty" to a crime?

As far as having a record, no. For appeal purposes there are a slew of differences and there is usually a major difference when it comes to sentencing.
