Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Is it possible to have an expired Protection from Abuse Order expunged from your record in Pennsylvania? The PFA expired in July of 2010. My fianc and I were together from 2004-2009. When I left him I had a PFA placed against him. We did not speak from 2009-2014. In 2014 we got back together. He is now currently incarcerated and after months of contact visits his new counselor decided they should not be allowed due to this old PFA. They said that they would reconsider contact visits if we were able to get the PFA removed from his record. Stopping our contact visits not only affects him and I but also our 11 year old daughter as I am the approved adult to take her on visits. Is there any way to have this expired PFA expunged?

Not likely. The problem is the PFA will be something that will have to be disclosed if you ever have a custody issue. Also given that PFAs are kept in a very secure system I think it would be hard to convince anyone to expunge it.
