Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Ex fiancée withholding property and threats

Hello,

I wasn't sure if this was the right forum to contact, but I am in need of some help. Recently I split with my fiancée and since then she has refused to return my personal belongings to me. I contacted the Pennsylvania State Police and since she is an out of state resident (attends school in Georgia, but is from Alabama), they told me that it was a civil matter and that since I am unable to afford an attorney, to seek legal aid.

I have contacted my ex-fiancée several times to try and get my things back in a civil manner, she demands that I send her $500 which she spent on her own to come visit me. After asking to have my things returned she has also threatened to quote ''see to it I am never a cop'' and say that I have been threatening her. Not once have I threatened her, I have only ever approached her in a friendly and civil manner hoping to have my things returned. While there isn't much monetary value to my property, there is a great deal of sentimental value to it.

I apologize if this email was bothersome, but I am in desperate need of help. I would like to know what my options are and what all I can do. I would greatly appreciate a response.

Thank you.

Re: Ex fiancée withholding property and threats

My advice is to either pay her the $500 or forget about your personal things. The $500 is a lot cheaper than any kind of legal remedy you may be entitled to.
