Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

I am trying to find out if it is worth my time and effort to hire an attorney concerning an assault that occurred on this past weekend. I am a female and the assault was by the bar owner's husband. I have medical records. I have contacted the local police, but this is a small town, and nothing seems to be moving forward. I am willing to pay attorney's fees if necessary.

If you don't think the local police department is doing anything you can contact the county district attorney. The only thing a private attorney can do is sue the other party in a civil law suit.
