Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

fled the state from drug charges

My son was arrested two years ago for selling a small amount of marijuana to an undercover agent....He was placed in jail...As he was already on parole for some older charges of underage drinking...But, the judge granted bail, and while out on bail, he fled the state and is still gone...I was wondering if he can ever return to pa? Will he always be ''wanted'' for the missed hearing, and skipping out on parole, and jumping bail and so on...Also, the bail was $5000.00 and i needed 10%..But i only had $150.00 and a bail bondsman put up the other $350.00 and he has never contacted me either????..Some sherriffs and p.O. Dept. used to check my house for my son when he first left...But that was the last i heard from any of them too.Thank you for your help.

Re: fled the state from drug charges

I hate to be the one to tell you but your son was an idiot, because of his actions not only has he forfeited his bail...all of it, but he is also "wanted!" This means there probably are several warrants out for your sons arrest, and eventually he will be caught and charged with additional criminal charges. In addition to these additional charges he will also receive the maximum penalty for his prior criminal actions, it is extremely unlikely that the court would grant him any leniency.

If you ever here from him again, better tell him to get an attorney...ps...you are probably on the hook for the bail money...all $5,000.00 of it, regardless if your son turns himself in or not.

Sincerely,
