Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Fraud
My 17 yr old sister in law lives with her ex boyfriends parents. She became pregnant while living there and the boy was 18 yrs of age at the time. During her pregnancy The lady she is living with told her health care provider that she was her mother and signed documents in my mother-in-laws name. Basically she said she was my mother in law. She has done this thru out the prgnancy and I was just wondering if there is anything I can do to stop this. She told my sister in law that she must give up the child at birth and that her son will have no financial responsibility. I am furious and wanted to know what I can do.

Re: Fraud
I'm not sure that this meets the definition of fraud. I'm not sure that it matches any particular definition of any crime. Maybe unsworn falsification to authorities but I'm not so sure that criminal law is the best resolution. This sounds to me like a Family Law situation involving custody and the best interests of the child should be paramount. The boy's Mother isn't simply able to dictate what will happen and, if I understand your question correctly, that's what you are concerned with.
