Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Friend May be Convicted of Fraud?

A friend of mine has been collecting welfare for a few months (7 to be exact) and today she got a letter stating ''You provided false info when you applied for food stamp benefits. You also continued to provide false info when questioned by your caseworker. You failed to disclose household composition and all countable household income and resources. You provided falsified documents to obtain welfare benefits. Any benefits that you have recieved under false pretenses will be subjest to recoupment.''

My question is will she be charged if she pays pack what they gave her in those 7 months (she told me it was a little over 2500)

My understanding is she had her on and off childrens father staying with her because she was on bedrest due to a high risk pregnancy. She supposes maybe her landlord reported it.

Any info is well appreciated

Re: Friend May be Convicted of Fraud?

She may in fact be charged with welfare fraud. Often times, if the person has never been arrested before and can pay back all of the money, the person can get ARD, which means that they will not a have a criminal record.

Feel free to write me back if you have any other question or if this is unclear in any way. Good Luck.
