Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

My girlfriend has an ex husband and his mother allowed her to use the ex mother-in-laws credit card to get stuff for the ex mother-in-law. Well, my girlfriend changed residences and now all of a sudden the ex mother-in-law is pressing theft and forgery charges against her. She was already interviewed by the police. The total that they were looking at is $920.00. What penalty is she looking at? The charges are theft and forgery and the state is Pennsylvania. What steps should she take to lessen the penalty?

The sentence depends on her prior criminal record and what exactly was charged in this case. The likely outcome would either be probation or county prison time. The step she should take to reduce the sentence would be to retain a lawyer. It is very important to have an attorney involved early in the legal process.
