You can call to find the prosecutor, and send him a thoughtful letter, but he has no obligation to respond, and they usually are over worked, but letters showing people care for, and can and will support someone after they get out, or if they get counseling can not hurt. If the person has a place to stay, a promise of employment if and when they get out, and possibly support such as paying for a bracelet if let out on probation could help get a more lenient sentence, or probation. I love my brother too, but if he has drug/alcohol/anger problems, you may be setting up yourself for disappointment. Be realistic, and keep in mind that if you do not have your act together, if you are not safe and OK financially, you can not afford to offer to "fix" your brother. Here the best thing you can do is take care of yourself, make a good example for your brother, tell him you love him, and you will help him if you can afford to. Try to get others who care for him to do the same thing. Tell him if you can do it right, you can help him get right himself. Some people just have a "I'm a failure" attitude, and they are like a black hole, they take and take and never give enough back. That does not mean they are bad people, that they don;t love back, or that they want to fail or take advantage of others, especially those they love, but they do anyway. - Be well.

Talking to the D.A. isn't going to do anything at all...if anything, it will hurt. Your brother needs to talk to a private criminal defense attorney as soon as possible. Feel free to give our offices a call.
