What is a nonmandatory sentence ?
Also i was told by another attorney that my husband must serve at least 3 to 6 months of his case he would be able to come home after he dose his parole violation and at least 3 to 6 month of his new case could you please give me some feed back i would be honored to hear it from another attorney thank you He is in jail for a drug charge

It sounds to me like a plea bargain. Non-mandatory simply means that there is no minimum period that he must serve. For example, some drug charges carry mandatory minimum sentences that the Judge has to impose. His own attorney is the one that has the most information about the case and has probably worked out a good deal for him.
