Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
I was issued a subpoena by the state of PA to testify in a criminal case. I told my employer and they said I would be reprimanded if I missed work to go to the hearing. I may lose my job. Is that legal to do considering the court said I have no choice but to show up?

Technically, an employer cannot reprimand you for obeying a Court Order; however, I would call the attorney who subpoenaed you to explain your dilemma. Occasionally, the attorney will explain to the employer that you must follow the Order. Other times, the judge presiding over the case may reprimand the employer.
