Lawyer not representing us properly and lieing to us

We pay a crinal lawyer to represent a family member and a week ago a public defense lawyer went to the jail to see him and we receive a letter from the public defense office. we were told that the lawyer we hired has not pulled our case nor has he been to see his client. Everytime we question them they say it is being handle. yete they have not done anything and the court date is in two weeks. What can we do since we already paid our money and the court date is approaching?

If this is in Philadelphia county, you may have nothing to worry about. Call the lawyers office again and ask to speak to a lawyer. Ask the lawyer when they will meet your family member and see their answer. If your family members case is listed for a preliminary hearing, the lawyer may not visit until after the next court date. As far as pulling the case goes, you probably do NOT want your lawyer to do that, but it is a complicated answer that is not appropriate for law guru.
