Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
mailbox tampering
I keep telling a friend of mine that there is no law saying you can not put a flyer in someones mailbox. I even called the Postal Service and the people on the phone told me it was against the law. No one can tell me where this law is. I think it's legal to drop a flyer in a mailbox. What do you say?

Re: mailbox tampering
I say you are correct. it is ok to flyer doors or under car windshields, but the mailbox attached to your home is only for the postal service. ask your friend why fedEx or UPS never leave overnight letters in the physical mailbox. specifically, there is a federal statute on the topic which i will gladly research in exchange for a fee; perhaps this response will satisfy you.
good luck,
