Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania
Marijuana Use/Possession
Hello, I recently was caught smoking a joint with 3 friends. The police questioned my friend and then told me they knew the joint was mine, which it really wasnt, we had all pitched on it. The police report says that two of the others with me stated that it was my joint, but I know they did not say that, they just said I was the one who carried it to where we were caught smoking. The police then found about half a gram of marijuana on me. What kind of a sentence can I expect/go for? Should I try for ARD? Do I need to hire a lawyer? Any advice is helpful, thanks.

You definitely need a lawyer. Apossession offense if you were convicted would probably not result in jail time. However a conviction could jepordize your ability to get student loans and future employment. ARD is a good option if available. I offer free consultations.
Re: Marijuana Use/Possession
As the previous attorney noted, you need legal representation ASAP, failure to do so may lead to jail time and a guaranteed criminal record....ARD is only given on the consent of the DA's office, not by your request. Let a professional advise you on what your next step should be, it's your choice, don't screw it up.
