Obtaining Evidence for Defense in a Criminal Case
Is it possible for a defense attorney to obtain the cell phone records of the plaintiff (or other private parties) in a criminal case, if those records would strengthen the case for the defendent? If so, how is this accomplished?

Yes. Your attorney should specifically request those records in informal discovery. If they are not provided he should file a motion to compel discovery.
