Preliminary Hearing in Philadelphia
If I'm scheduled for a preliminary hearing and I know the other party has no intentions of showing up do I need a lawyer ?

Unfortunately for you, yes you will need to hire a lawyer or make an application for the public defender.
The Courts will not dismiss the case at the first or second listing of the preliminary hearing, and you will face possible revocation of your bail terms if you don't get representation. That would be very messy, and you'll wind up paying $$ anyway.
I am on the "$500 List", a list of lawyers the Court is supposed to provide people who don't qualify for the public defender and don't have the resources to pay "full freight". My office routinely handles prelims at that rate, so either call me or write back to [email protected] to discuss the details.

You sure do. You can't plan on the other party not showing up. Feel free to call our offices to discuss.
