Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Pressing Charges after Restitution Paid

A friend of mine stole money from the company they worked for but can not determine an exact figure of what they stole, they didn't keep a log or put it all in their bank account. The company verbally agreed that if the employee paid $15,000 in restitution within 5 days they would not press charges. No agreement was ever signed to this. All of the money was paid and on time. Can the company still press charges?

Yes. If the company files a police reoprt, the case will be reviewed by the State Attorney's office to determine whether a crime was committed. If the police are never involved, it is unlikely charges will be filed. It's entirely up to the company.

Despite what most people actually believe, it is the State of Florida alone and not the victim that decides whether or not criminal charges are filed. With that being said, if the State of Florida knows that the suspect has fully reimbursed the victim and that the victim does not want to prosecute... it is unlikely the State will file a criminal charge. Nonetheless, its their decision and not that of the victim.

First, what does "PA(FL)" mean? Did it occur in FL or PA? Second, yes they can file a complaint, and since he stole the money, unless he stole the money to get medicine or food needed to care for someone, I hope they do, and he goes to jail. I am sick of seeing thieves getting away with stealing.
